Our book of the month for April is the mighty Son of the Morning by Mark Alder. The best way to introduce it is via an edited letter from Simon,our Associate Publisher for Gollancz, which he penned to our Geeks earlier in the year (who you’ll be hearing more from later in the month) to bring them to this epic read. The first chapter is below, and we’re be serializing it throughout the month with a giveaway to come.

Gollancz is delighted to share a very special teaser from Patrick Rothfuss. Last year, when Pat visited the UK for the World Fantasy Convention we asked him to tell us a little bit about the final book in the Kingkiller Chronicles. Okay, so here’s the thing. The King in Yellow is either the thematic backbone of HBO’s True Detective,or it’s an incidental device being utilised by the hipster crowd to draw in the weird fiction mob and convince them that this series is worth sticking with. Time will tell which of these is true, but in the words of a noted writer of my acquaintance (hi Nick), rest assured, there is a Dog. It might not be the dog you expected, but it is there and it is barking.

We’re delighted to reveal the cover for our July debut, The Seventh Miss Hatfield by Anna Caltabiano. Anna was only 17 when she wrote this book and I hope that you will be as entranced and impressed with it as I – and the rest of the team here at Orion – were.

This beautiful cover was created and designed by the fantastic Sinem Erkas, and we’re very grateful for her fine work. There’ll be lots more about this book coming out as we near publication – and Anna will be over in the UK to launch the book !

Today we’re delighted to be revealing the cover for one of our amazing debuts this year, September’s The Relic Guild by Edward Cox. The art is by Chris Gibbs and the in-house designer is Jamie Tanner. We’re thrilled with how it’s come out, and very much look forward to sharing the book itself later in the year.
